Why Women Find BDE Attractive
The short version: BDE removes the emotional labor women normally absorb on dates. No stroking the ego, no defusing the insecurity, no managing his reaction to her opinions. That absence of friction reads as deeply attractive - and the data backs it up.
The 2015 study by Nicole Prause, Jaymie Park, Shannon Leung and Geoffrey Miller (published via PubMed Central) is widely cited because it surfaced an interesting split: women indicated a preference for a slightly larger penis (around 6.4 inches in length, 5 inches in girth) for one-night encounters, but defaulted to average for long-term partners. Translation - physical preference exists and is real, but it isn't the deciding factor for relationships.
What is the deciding factor is the energy a partner brings into the room. BDE is attractive because it signals four things at once:
- Safety. A man comfortable with himself is safer to be open with - physically, sexually and emotionally.
- Reliability. Low reactivity means his mood isn't her job to manage.
- Sexual confidence. Self-security translates directly into being present and unhurried in the bedroom.
- Status without performance. He doesn't need external validation, which paradoxically makes him more validated.
"Women preferred a slightly above-average size for casual partners - but reverted to average for long-term. Confidence, not centimeters, predicts the second date."
